24 CustomsPty Ltd

Why importers choose us

Boutique scale, licensed expertise, and a phone that answers at 3am.

What we're held to

Speed

Delays are measured in storage fees and container detention. We lodge pre-arrival wherever possible and treat "urgent" as a standing condition of the work — not an exception.

Consultancy

Advice on classification, free trade agreements and deferred GST before goods ship — in writing. The cheapest clearance is the one structured correctly in advance.

Communication

Real-time updates and a direct line to the broker handling your job. No ticket queues — transparent, responsive support at every stage.

Our story

24 Customs is an Australian-owned boutique brokerage built on more than twenty years of clearance work at the border.

Our licensed brokers are accredited for quarantine services and fully integrated with Australian Border Force systems. We stay deliberately boutique: large enough to run around the clock from Sydney and Brisbane, small enough that your broker knows your business, your suppliers and your product line.

  • Licensed customs brokers
  • Quarantine accredited
  • ABF integrated
  • No hidden fees
  • Sydney & Brisbane, Australia-wide

Richard Li

Founder and Managing Director

More than 20 years across customs brokerage, freight forwarding and cross-border e-commerce in Australia and China, including building SF Express's cross-border e-commerce unit.

Richard is the Founder and Managing Director of 24 Customs, with more than 20 years of experience across customs brokerage, freight forwarding, international logistics and cross-border e-commerce in Australia and China.

Throughout his career, Richard has worked across multiple parts of the logistics industry, including carriers, third-party logistics providers and cross-border e-commerce businesses. He has held senior leadership roles with major logistics organisations, including establishing and leading a cross-border e-commerce business unit for SF Express.

That breadth is why Richard treats a clearance as one link in a chain rather than a form to lodge. He reads a shipment the way a carrier, a forwarder and a compliance officer each would, and he expects the people he leads to do the same: use judgement, own the outcome, and keep the relationship long after the container is released.

Away from the desk he mentors younger operators and speaks on international trade, logistics and building a business between Australia and China.

His job now is to grow 24 Customs into the brokerage he would have wanted as a client: specialist, responsive and personal.

Eric Dao

General Manager and Customs Broker

One of Australia's youngest licensed customs brokers, from courier driver to managing major accounts at one of the world's largest freight forwarders.

Eric is one of the youngest customs brokers in Australia, having achieved his Customs Broker Licence in a remarkably short period of time.

His career journey has been featured by WiseTech Global, sharing his story from courier driver to Licensed Customs Broker and business owner.

Eric started his logistics career from the ground up. He built his experience as an all-round operator at a small freight forwarder before moving on to manage major clients at one of the world's largest freight forwarding companies. These experiences have shaped the way he approaches both business and the logistics industry today.

Having started in a courier van, Eric knows what a late clearance does to a driver's day and an importer's cash flow, and he runs his desk accordingly. He gives his time to people starting out in freight and customs, the way others once did for him.

What he brings to 24 Customs is pace: fast answers, straight talk and a service standard learned at one of the world's largest forwarders.

Nathan Hanson

Co-founder and Customs Manager

More than 20 years in Australian customs clearance and biosecurity, the person clients call when a DAFF or ABF matter needs untangling.

Nathan is a Co-founder and Licensed Customs Broker at 24 Customs, bringing more than 20 years of hands-on experience in Australian customs clearance and biosecurity compliance.

Throughout his career, Nathan has developed particular expertise in DAFF requirements, food imports and complex customs matters. His deep understanding of Australian customs systems enables him to identify potential issues early, navigate challenging clearances and find practical solutions when shipments do not proceed as expected.

Nathan is also highly experienced in communicating with the Australian Border Force, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, and other relevant authorities. His calm, precise and practical approach is especially valuable when a matter requires clarification, escalation or direct engagement with government agencies.

Clients tend to stay with Nathan. Many have followed him from role to role because when a container is held, he already knows the requirement and the quickest way through it, and he treats every shipment as his personal responsibility.

At 24 Customs he is the escalation point: complex clearances, disputed classifications and biosecurity directions that need a steady hand. He also spends time bringing on the next generation of licensed brokers.
